Flying Solo at the Perth Good Food and Wine Show
So food and wine festivals are supposed to be the ultimate girls day out, a day to gossip, drink large amounts of wine, and discuss why triple creamy brie goes so well with bubbles. It was with mixed feelings I took myself to this event on my own, a bit worried that people would think I was a desperate wino, bored housewife looking for an event to drink wine without the guilt to go with it. I discovered that there are many desperate bored wino housewives at this event, and probably a lot of normal people too, like minded people interested in wine, cheese, tea, meats, spirits and all things food and drink. It was definitely worth taking a class. People actually want to talk to you and drink wine with you. I did the Wine Selectors Meat your Match, and of course got sucked into a membership. Now I get a dozen white wines sent home each quarter - nice! I also did the Cheese and Beer tasting class, mainly because everything was booked out, but boy I'm glad I did...
